Jackie Gleason's new show was terrible and unpopular. But instead of just canceling it and forgetting it, he came back the next week and basically just rambled to the camera in a charming, smoke-filled apology. There are dozens of contemporary stars who should be forced to do this, but no one would bother watching them, because they don't have the charisma to pull it off.
